Frosted Pine

I captured this photograph on a late November adventure in Muddus National Park. Muddus consists mainly of marshlands which are impossible to hike through during summer.

Now, in November, the mires had frozen over and I could easily explore them on foot. Later in winter it would be a demanding task and require skis to get around in meter deep snow.

I got really excited when I found this lone pine tree with its arcing shape. It had been cold for days and a thick layer of beautiful frost covered the landscape.

I spent a couple of hours photographing the tree and during that time fog rolled in. It got thicker and thicker and the world around disappeared for a moment. It felt as if it was only me and the tree.

It was one of those small, intimate moments in nature that I will remember for a long time.
