Frozen Valley

It’s March and winter is still holding its grip of Rapadalen. In the summer this valley is full of life but this time of year signs of living things are more scarce. It’s totally quiet and the landscape has a stark feel to it. As a photographer I’ve come to appreciate the graphical qualities that winter brings.

I come across a Ptarmigan sitting just a couple of meters in front of me. It’s perfectly adapted to the environment and the cold winters. Me on the other hand, I need lots of gear, clothes, food and fuel to keep myself alive out here.

It’s quite humbling to think about.
