I captured this photograph during an extremely cold day in November. Temperatures were on record lows for the season and I struggled with handling the camera in the cold.
The early cold spell created a unique opportunity to photograph this river while it was still open. Later during midwinter it would freeze over completely.
Around noon I experienced this beautiful golden light – in November the sun barely reaches over the horizon. Together with the frost-covered rocks and trees it was a dream for a photographer.
