This photograph was made during a two week adventure in Sarek National Park.
After days of bad weather I could finally see some faint light breaking through the clouds. Soon there was this spectacular light illuminating the valleys of Algavagge and Gouhpervagge below me.
I hurried to get my camera ready – I knew from experience that this moment wouldn’t last for long. I composed the scene with the river running through it. The rain was coming straight on so I had to constantly wipe the front of the lens free from rain drops that would otherwise show up on the image.
After a minute or so the magic was gone and I returned to my tent. I was happy to had captured this image that I’d had in my mind for a long time.
To me this is Sarek at its best. The rivers, the lush green of the valley floor, the mountains and that elusive light.
