Totally exhausted after a steep ascent I pitch my tent close to a lake. My legs and shoulders hurt. I’m to tired to think, but subconsciously I see this opportunity arise. I somehow get to work, doing what I’ve done so many times before. Camera on the tripod. Compose. Adjust the exposure. Click.
I’ve come to know this feeling of total exhaustion well and sometimes (though certainly not every time) I make my best work in this state. It’s as if things become more clear in some odd way.
