Midwinter and -25 °C. The mist was covering the landscape around me. It had snowed the previous day and the shoreline of the lake was covered in a beautiful layer of thick powder.
Although it was 9 AM, it was still dark. A small opening in the mist cast a subtle light on the landscape adding shape and form to the snow covered rocks closest to my camera.
The island in the background was sometimes visible and the next minute completely hidden in the thick mist. As I had to use a 30 second long exposure the timing was a little tricky to get right.
When I arrived at the scene the water closest to the shoreline was still open. When I left a few hours it had frozen over.
